Dr Clare Samuelson is a Consultant Haematologist specialising in the care of adults with sickle cell disorder, thalassaemia and rare inherited anaemias. She is based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, and also offers specialist care to people living with haemoglobin disorders in Bradford.
Dr Samuelson is actively involved in research to develop new treatments and improve the care of people living with sickle cell disorder and thalassaemia, and completed her PhD in gene therapy for haemoglobinopathies. Dr Samuelson also chairs the UK NEQAS Haemoglobinopathy group, which runs a national programme to ensure the quality and accuracy of laboratory testing, and is a medical lead for the national Haemoglobin Disorders Peer Review programme.
